There aren’t many make-up items or beauty products that I throw away and replace as often as I do mascara. And you should do that too. Generally, it’s advised to get a new one every three months. The mascara wand is a breeding ground for bacteria and your eyes are very sensitive for infection. There are many beauty hacks out there that will tell you how to clean and preserve your mascara, but you really shouldn’t do that. Beauty is great, but your health is more important.
The same goes for most of your products, by the way. All make-up has an expiration date, but it differs for each item. Mascara has the shortest lifespan, so replace it regularly. The one I’m using now is the Natural Mascara by Lily Lolo.
I read a lot of positive reviews about this mascara, so I decided to try it out myself. I’ve been using it for a while now, but it’s not that great to be honest. The result is not spectacular and I usually have to apply a second coat to get the wanted effect. It does look really pretty and natural once you put on the second coat, but I don’t always have time for that and it’s, generally, not what I want from my mascara.
It’s not all bad, of course. For example, I really like the brush. The size and shape are handy and it separates the lashes pretty well. It doesn’t smudge and dries quickly. The mascara is ophthalmologically tested and also suitable for sensitive eyes. Plus, it’s vegan, Leaping Bunny certified, and free from fragrances, silicones and alcohol. So, there’s a lot of good about it too.
If you’ve been blessed with naturally long eyelashes, I think this mascara would look really good on you. Mine are fairly short unfortunately, so I prefer products that have an instant effect. But do feel free to try it out for yourself and let me know what your experience was.
Thanks for reading and until the next post!
